Fun Run 2 finishes with a Blast

Blast of wind that is, and a little rain, followed by some sunshine. Great day for a run. For those of you not from these sunny climes Victor Harbor Turned on four season in one day yet again. As one of the entrants suggested to me after the event. If you want to avoid the worst weather just look up when FOAM is organising a Fun Run and come a different weekend. Ha Ha (if only it wasnt so TRUE!)

But as always stoic runners, amazing volunteers, great support = FUN FOR ALL.

Special mention must go to RUN - YANK - RUN, for their suppoirt of this event. Very proifessional outfit, complete with tour organizer, Cheryl Carter and a BUS. Whow. Great to have you along and look forward to your prescence again for the next one.

BROOKS shoes get their mention here for those shoes, this time going to Mark Worthing,  a regular with his family at these events. Shane Porteous, last events winner had his on for this event and he assures us that he went a lot faster in his Brooks.

Special thanks goes to the NAB, also for their enduring support fo this great event. With special thanks to the volunteers who worked tirelessly to get all the Yank crowd enrolled in time.

The Health Service was represented by Michelle and her daughter who stood in the rain to hand out water (until they realised they had an umbrella in the car).

All the results are available in categories and overall just Click Here

Next Race

Dont forget the final race in the series, Should be bigger and better again. We have the Musashi ARCH, and Sid's Clock with the regular sponsors and all thise giveaways.

Power Bar Fun Run - A crowd pleaser

5km & 10km Fun Run/Walk Series

Great weather, good run, loads of people

Sun December 11th 2011, 8:30am

Kent Reserve, Victor Harbor

RESULTS

This seasons first race was a great event with 70 runners and walkers from all ages taking part. It was a smooth start to day with the weather playing its part nicely keeping things cool early. Only a little breeze by Victor standards ensured that there were fast times. Perhaps the best performance of the day was from Luke Goldup (35:31) who was first past the post for the 5km distance even though he was on his way to the 10km distance. The first female over the 10km distance was Joanna Cowan in 45:32.

For the 5km distance Lewis Horwaood and Brad Cox came in equal 1st over the line ina time of 19:07 and the first lady over the line for 5km was Tracy Dobie is a great time of 21:46.

Every one was a winner on the day as all went smoothly and we even have results in record time. Thanks again to NAB and their employees who came down in numbers to help out.

The next one is only a few weeks away

so have a great Xmas and New Year and we will see you on the foreshore for the next one.

RACE 3 - 20010/11 POWER BAR Classic series

10km or 5km from Whalers Inn

No wind, No Rain, pure Sunshine

Not altogether unexpected at this time of year. Victor Harbors weather made a dramatic turn from the previous two events. No Rain,, No wind just pure unadulterated sunshine, from 6 am. It was hot, hot, d*** hot as they say.

Mix in the last great fishing day for the school holidays and a State level Sea Kyak race and you get a a hive of activity for hours. The foreshore was a buzz of busy little bees all morning, with boats coming a going in all sizes and two large events running simultaneously. It was a specticale. CHECK OUT THE PHOTOS.

The event was againa roaring success and we will certainly be looking at running these events from Whalers Inn infuture. They access to infrastrucure was greatly appreciated and YES COFFEE WILL BE AVAILABELIN FUTURE.

Brad makes a clean sweep

Brad Cos did it again, although ina slightly slower time than previous events at 19:06. Not surprising given the high temperatires of the morning. Chane Rodgers was again second with ???? coming across third.

In the womens category the first femal home was ????

10 km winners

With the addition of the 10km length quite a number of runners switched to this event and then given the weather switched back again.

Weather turns it on for Fun Runners

The 2010-11 Power bar Fun Run series kicked off with a Sorm. Victor Harbors famous weather was out for all to see, wind, rain and storm clouds in abundance. Earlier in the week organiser were concerned that the heat may detract from turnout for this years first Run, but they needn't have worried, as the weather was cool, windy, overcast with patchy rain.

Local runner Brad Cox showed good early form with an impressive run, coming in first overall in just 18min 20sec. This despite driving into a strong head wind on the outword leg. Second over the line was Shane McGregor, in 19:05 mins, with Mathew Rodert coming third in 19:21 mins The first female competitor home was Wendy Perry in 22:25 mins

Full results for the event are posted on the web site along with photos.
